Sri Lanka stocks close up 0.6-pct July 14, 2014 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's stocks closed 0.56 percent higher on Monday extending the gains of food, beverages and tobacco sector amid low foreign participation, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 37.63 points higher at 6,699.03, up 0.56 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 13.07 points higher at 3,721.23, up 0.35 percent.

Turnover was 597.19 million rupees, down from 1.67 billion rupees last Friday with 114 stocks closed positive against 68 negative.

DIMO closed 29.90 rupees higher at 564.10 rupees with an off-market transaction of 50.05 million rupees changing hands at 550.00 rupees per share contributing 8 percent of the turnover.

Sierra Cables closed 10 cents lower at 2.10 rupees and FLC Hydro Power closed flat at 6.30 rupees, attracting most number of trades during the day.

Foreign investors bought 84.99 million rupees worth shares while selling 56.65 million rupees worth shares.

Lion Brewery Ceylon closed 89.10 rupees higher at 684.20 rupees, contributing most to the index gain.

Dialog Axiata closed 30 cents higher at 11.20 rupees and Sri Lanka Telecom closed 10 cents higher at 56.10 rupees.

Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 5.60 rupees higher at 1,107.30 rupees and Ceylon Tea Services closed 17.50 rupees lower at 700.50 rupees.

Aitken Spence closed 1.10 rupees lower at 107.00 rupees and John Keells Holdings closed 30 cents higher at 240.30 rupees.

JKH’s W0022 warrants closed 20 cents lower at 63.90 rupees and its W0023 warrants closed 40 cents lower at 73.90 rupees.

Sri Lanka shares close up 0.2-pct June 30, 2014 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's shares closed 0.24 percent higher on Monday boosting turnover to a six-week high amid strong foreign participation, brokers said.The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 15.13 points higher at 6,378.62, up 0.24 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 13.58 points higher at 3,534.43, up 0.39 percent.

Turnover was 1.45 billion rupees, up from 1.13 billion rupees last friday with 98 stocks closed positive against 88 negative.

John Keells Holdings closed 20 cents lower at 219.90 rupees with seven off-market transactions of 266.77 million rupees changing hands at the same price per share contributing 18 percent of the daily turnover.

The diversified conglomerate also had market transactions of 223.37 million rupees contributing 15 percent of the turnover.

JKH’s W0022 warrants closed 10 cents lower at 59.90 rupees and its W0023 warrants closed 1.10 rupees higher at 71.10 rupees.

The aggregate value of all off-the-floor deals represented 23 percent of the turnover.

Adam Investments closed 90 cents higher at 5.90 rupees, attracting most number of trades during the day.

Foreign investors bought 677.96 million rupees worth shares while selling 493.31 million rupees worth shares.

Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 14.10 rupees higher at 1,063.90 rupees and oil palm firm Shalimar (Malay) closed 284.60 rupees higher at 2,444.60 rupees, contributing most to the index gain.

Commercial Bank closed 1.10 rupees higher at 140.60 rupees and People’s Leasing and Finance closed 40 cents lower at 16.00 rupees.

Nestle Lanka closed 12.70 rupees higher at 1,980.10 rupees and Cargills Ceylon closed 50 cents lower at 149.20 rupees.

June 23, 2014 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's shares closed 0.05 percent lower for the forth straight day amid strong foreign selling, brokers said.The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 3.10 points lower at 6,299.35, down 0.05 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 3.93 points lower at 3,474.93, down 0.11 percent.

Turnover was 867.34 million rupees, down from 1.21 billion rupees last Friday with 67 stocks closed positive against 110 negative.

Commercial Bank closed 40 cents higher at 133.40 rupees with four off-market transactions of 135.37 million rupees changing hands at 133.90 rupees per share contributing 16 percent of the turnover.

The aggregate value of all off-the-floor deals represented 30 percent of the daily turnover.

PC Pharma closed 20 cents higher at 1.40 rupees and Ceylon Leather Products W0014 warrants closed 60 cents higher at 2.40 rupees, attracting most number of trades during the day.

Foreign investors bought 266.34 million rupees worth shares while selling 446.45 million rupees worth shares.

Nestle Lanka closed 12.60 rupees lower at 1,937.00 rupees and John Keells Holdings closed 70 cents lower at 220.00 rupees.

JKH’s W0022 warrants closed 1.70 rupees lower at 58.80 rupees and its W0023 warrants closed 50 cents lower at 70.10 rupees.

NDB closed 4.00 rupees lower at 195.00 rupees and Commercial Leasing and Finance closed 10 cents lower at 4.00 rupees.

Sri Lanka Telecom closed 1.30 rupees higher at 47.90 rupees and Dialog Axiata closed flat at 10.40 rupees.

Cargills Ceylon closed 6.20 rupees higher at 152.50 rupees and Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 5.50 rupees higher at 995.00 rupees.

Lion Brewery Ceylon closed 10.40 rupees higher at 454.30 rupees.

In a stock exchange filing, NDB capital Holdings said, the company is initiating a process to de-list its ordinary shares from the CSE subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.
