Sri Lanka shares close down 0.3-pct July 17, 2014 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's shares closed 0.31 percent lower on Thursday despite net foreign buying, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 20.69 points lower at 6,721.87, down 0.31 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 13.58 points lower at 3,747.47, down 0.36 percent.

Turnover was 926.45 million rupees, down from 1.21 billion rupees a day earlier with 75 stocks closed positive against 124 negative.

John Keells Holdings closed 10 cents higher at 245.00 rupees with market transactions of 279.10 million rupees contributing 30 percent of the turnover.

JKH’s W0022 warrants closed 1.20 rupees higher at 65.90 rupees and its W0023 warrants closed 40 cents lower at 73.70 rupees.

HNB closed 1.30 rupees lower at 169.10 rupees with an off-market transaction of 21.93 million rupees changing hands at 173.00 rupees per share contributing 2 percent of the turnover.

E-Channelling closed 1.10 rupees higher at 16.80 rupees, attracting most number of trades during the day.

Foreign investors bought 189.13 million rupees worth shares while selling 26.49 million rupees worth shares.

Sri Lanka Telecom closed 1.20 rupees lower at 55.00 rupees, contributing most to the index drop.

Lion Brewery Ceylon closed 13.90 rupees lower at 659.90 rupees and Distilleries closed 1.10 rupees higher at 204.90 rupees.

Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 2.50 rupees higher at 1,102.50 rupees and Hemas Holdings closed 70 cents higher at 48.90 rupees and.

Sri Lanka shares close up 0.8-pct July 10, 2014 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's shares closed 0.83 percent higher with tobacco stocks gaining amid strong foreign buying, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 55.02 points higher at 6,668.86, up 0.83 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 29.08 points higher at 3,735.14, up 0.78 percent.

Turnover was 2.36 billion rupees, down from 2.89 billion rupees a day earlier with 122 stocks closed positive against 77 negative.

Nestle Lanka closed 4.50 rupees lower at 2,077.10 rupees with an off-market transaction of 196.77 million rupees changing hands at 2,100.00 rupees per share contributing 8 percent of the turnover.

The aggregate value of all off-the-floor deals represented 27 percent of the turnover.

George Steuart Finance closed 3.70 rupees higher at 54.00 rupees and PCH Holdings closed 10 cents higher at 3.30 rupees, attracting most number of trades during the day.

Foreign investors bought 857.81 million rupees worth shares while selling 507.98 million rupees worth shares.

Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 33.30 rupees higher at 1,100.00 rupees, contributing most to the index gain.

Lion Brewery Ceylon closed 42.00 rupees higher at 571.90 rupees.

Carson Cumberbatch closed 13.00 rupees higher at 430.00 rupees and John Keells Holdings closed 2.40 rupees higher at 240.00 rupees.

JKH’s W0022 warrants closed 80 cents lower at 64.20 rupees and its W0023 warrants closed 1.10 rupees lower at 74.90 rupees.

Sri Lanka stocks close up 0.5-pct July 03, 2014 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's shares closed 0.54 percent higher on Thursday amid strong domestic participation, brokers said.The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 34.76 points higher at 6,467.28, up 0.54 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 30.48 points higher at 3,608.42, up 0.85 percent.

Turnover was 1.51 billion rupees, down from 2.43 billion rupees a day earlier with 106 stocks closed positive against 82 negative.

HNB closed 2.90 rupees higher at 161.90 rupees with three off-market transactions of 177.18 million rupees changing hands at 160.00 rupees per share contributing 12 percent of the daily turnover.

The aggregate value of all off-the-floor deals represented 37 percent of the turnover.

The Finance non-voting closed 50 cents higher at 9.30 rupees and The Finance closed 4.50 rupees higher at 22.70 rupees, attracting most number of trades during the day.

Foreign investors bought 344.71 million rupees worth shares while selling 78.78 million rupees worth shares.

Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 23.70 rupees higher at 1,100.00 rupees and Commercial Bank closed 4.90 rupees higher at 148.60 rupees, contributing most to the index gain.

Lanka Orix Finance closed 40 cents higher at 3.70 rupees and Ceylinco Insurance closed 5.00 rupees higher at 1,325.00 rupees.

Sri Lanka Telecom closed 1.20 rupees higher at 48.70 rupees and Dialog Axiata closed flat at 10.50 rupees.

Hemas Holdings closed 50 cents higher at 46.00 rupees and John Keells Holdings closed 3.20 rupees lower at 222.90 rupees.

Sri Lanka shares close up 0.1-pct June 26, 2014 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's shares closed 0.10 percent higher for the third consecutive day with banking stocks gaining amid thin foreign participation, brokers said.The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 6.61 points higher at 6,328.16, up 0.10 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 5.99 points higher at 3,507.54, up 0.17 percent.

Turnover was 484.95 million rupees, down from 705.26 million rupees a day earlier with 95 stocks closed positive against 72 negative.

Hemas Holdings closed 20 cents lower at 43.60 rupees with two off-market transactions of 43.50 million rupees changing hands at 43.50 rupees per share contributing 9 percent of the daily turnover.

The aggregate value of all off-the-floor deals represented 22 percent of the daily turnover.

Ceylon Leather Products W0014 closed 50 cents lower at 2.80 rupees and Central Investments and Finance closed flat at 1.20 rupees, attracting most number of trades during the day.

Foreign investors bought 127.80 million rupees worth shares while selling 81.46 million rupees worth shares.

Commercial Bank closed 2.20 rupees higher at 137.20 rupees and Property Development closed 21.60 rupees higher at 123.80 rupees, contributing most to the index gain.

Nestle Lanka closed 19.60 rupees higher at 1,950.00 rupees and Ceylon Beverage Holdings closed 30.00 rupees higher at 540.00 rupees.

Ceylinco Insurance closed 30.00 rupees higher at 1,350.00 rupees and Commercial Leasing and Finance closed 10 cents lower at 4.00 rupees.

Sri Lanka Telecom closed 80 cents lower at 46.70 rupees and Dialog Axiata closed 10 cents lower at 10.50 rupees.

Aitken Spence closed 80 cents lower at 103.20 rupees and John Keells Holdings closed 1.10 rupees lower at 222.80 rupees.

JKH’s W0022 warrants closed 80 cents lower at 60.00 rupees and its W0023 warrants closed 50 cents lower at 70.50 rupees.

Sri Lanka stocks close down 0.1-pct June 19, 2014 (LBO) - Sri Lanka's stocks closed 0.07 percent lower with index heavy John Keells Holdings losing ground despite net foreign buying, brokers said.The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index closed 4.41 points lower at 6,313.20, down 0.07 percent. The S&P SL20 closed 8.82 points lower at 3,490.67, down 0.25 percent.

Turnover was 683.59 million rupees, down from 713.88 million rupees a day earlier with 67 stocks closed positive against 106 negative.

Foreign investors bought 248.45 million rupees worth shares while selling 142.52 million rupees worth shares.

Index heavy John Keells Holdings closed 5.00 rupees lower at 222.10 rupees, contributing most to the index drop for the second consecutive day while attracting most number of trades during the day.

The diversified conglomerate also had three off-market transactions of 102.39 million rupees changing hands at 233.20 rupees per share contributing 15 percent of the daily turnover.

JKH’s W0022 warrants closed 90 cents lower at 59.10 rupees and its W0023 warrants closed 40 cents lower at 69.10 rupees.

Commercial Bank closed 30 cents higher at 135.00 rupees with market transactions of 103.58 million rupees changing hands at the same price per share contributing 15 percent of the turnover.

Ceylon Tobacco Company closed 5.00 rupees lower at 990.00 rupees and Nestle Lanka closed 52.00 rupees higher at 1,975.00 rupees.

Hayleys closed 6.80 rupees lower at 292.20 rupees and Dialog Axiata closed 20 cents higher at 10.40 rupees.
