Sri Lanka stock trading halted by technical glitch

Sept 19, 2011 (LBO) - Trading on Sri Lanka's Colombo Stock Exchange was halted by what an official called a "technical failure" soon after it opened Monday morning but was expected to resume soon.
"It's a technical failure," a stock exchange official said. "The bourse went down around 9.40 am. We are working on it and hope to get it working shortly."

Stock brokers said the market had been open only for a few minutes in the morning before trading came to a halt.

"The Automated Trading System experienced a hardware failure in the database servers shortly after the open auction today," a CSE statement said.

"The CSE is in the process of system recovery. The market will be kept informed regarding the progress."
